Patent Counsel / Patent Agent

Strongtooth, Inc. is a technology company that conceives, patents, and incubates its own inventions in-house. Technologies are generally in the fields of internet services, medical devices, biotechnology, telecommunications, consumer electronics, media/entertainment, but also extend beyond these sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting many provisional and utility patent applications
  • Respond to Office Actions and other patent office correspondence
  • Analyze invention disclosures, perform prior art searches, and devise strategies for patent protection
  • Attend scientific project team meetings to collect information for patenting and to advise team on patenting issues
  • Evaluate patent portfolios of third parties as part of continuous monitoring process and for due diligence projects
  • Supporting contract and licensing activities

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 3 years of prior patent/IP experience in the area of computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or related fields.
  • Registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • 3+ years practicing patent prosecution before the USPTO
  • Drafted at least thirty patent applications
  • Drafted at least fifty responses to office actions
  • Fast worker with high degree of attention to detail
  • An ability to organize assignments, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High level of professionalism and motivation and ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with rapidly changing priorities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High degree of attention to detail, an ability to organize assignments, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
